根據美國地質調查所（United States Geological Survey，USGS） 資訊，太平洋島國萬那杜（Vanuatu）東南方535公里處發生規模7.6、深度僅10公里的淺層地震；當地已經發布海嘯警報。
位於夏威夷的太平洋海嘯警報中心（The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center，PTWC）對地震鄰近地區發布警報，不過目前還沒有傳出相關災情。震央距萬那杜東南方535公里（人口約24萬3千人）；法屬新喀里多尼亞的亨特島（Ile Hunter ）109公里。
